ROBOTS LOVE SOURS

MONDAY NIGHT BREWING

PROJECT: TAKE AN ICONIC ATLANTA BEER AND HIGHLIGHT ITS REFRESHING TASTE & ICONOGRAPHY

Monday Night Brewing is a staple in the South East’s selection of refreshing and unique beers. Dr. Robot, itself, is very unique— from it’s name to the sweet and sour taste to the pink hue when you pour it into a cold glass. With all the eccentric elements that came with this beer, it was clear we had the next muse for our project.

WHAT WE DID

Step 1 – Concept & Storyboarding

We started by digging into what makes Doctor Robot so unique — its refreshing ingredients and that funky, unforgettable name. From the start, we knew the robot had to make an appearance, and the spot needed to feel colorful, playful, and dynamic.

Step 2 – Gathering Materials

With a six-pack of Doctor Robot in hand (picked up at Kroger—strictly for business use, of course), we hit up Home Depot to build our low-budget robot aesthetic. Think duct hoses, bright wires, and good old-fashioned problem-solving to bring the character to life.

Step 3 – Production Setup

In our studio space, we set up backdrops, lighting, and the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Our talented hand model, Isabella Guevara-Malavé, helped display the can and interact with the “Doc",” while a spray bottle added that “straight out of the cooler” look. We hung fruits on nearly invisible fishing line in front of a dark backdrop to highlight the beer’s sweet-and-sour flavor notes. Once we got the shots, we celebrated with the leftovers—after hours, of course.

Step 4 – Post-Production & Final Edit

The edit combined all the quirky, flavorful elements of Doctor Robot into one final piece: robotic funk, bold animations, and sensory SFX. The result? A beer commercial as vibrant and unexpected as the drink itself.
